Breakfast is pretty straight forward. I started out with a bin of strawberries form the supermarket. I would rip the stems off about 7? , wash them just purring bottled, not tap, water over them, very light rinse and eat them as I was waiting for my morning bathroom and getting dressed, getting the bike prepared etc. After the first bin, I bought some grapes and did them for 3 days or so. Seedless. No need to do anything but rinse. Now I am onto bananas, I cut up one each day. Some are going bad on me so I really have to buy new ones at least every other day. I still have a bin of strawberries and a bag of grapes going bad in the frig.

Dinners!
First night, Tuesday this year, I am in the habit of going to La Habichuela. I used to order the black bean soup and the chicken mole. The soup is gone but a wonderful new appetizer is the soft shell crab! I came back Sunday Jan 15th and had just the soft shell crab. It comes with a lot of side things so there is no problem with only having an appetizer. I used to always be put in the same booth in the air conditioning. In the last years I have moved to asking to be seated in the garden. That usually means a little terrace with 6+ tables overlooking the garden. I went a third day, Sunday the 22d, and had the chick with wine. It was poor. I just felt bad going back and having the same crab.
I start with a margarita of course. The problem is to get it like a martini, in a martini glass with no ice and no salt. I usually move on to a glass of the house white and a shot of tequila. The normal shot in a Cancun restaurants is 4oz. I have used this restaurant to entertain, on the rare occasion when the spider is able to lewer some unsupecting souls form the hostel my Airbnb is part of. No luck this year.
Another great aspect of La Habichuela is that it is just off the Parque de las Palapas, the park of the children. The Mexican families all bring their children here. God knows when they go home, long after I have gone.
