I called this entry day 6 but it really is later than that. I’ll clean things up later.
10am Friday 1/21/22
Today was the first “scheduled” non ride. I don’t mean that I decided I had had enough and would take the day off. Wednesday I got up to find rain on the tiles outside my airbnb. I thought I would give it a go anyway. Road down to the corner and there was a large puddle. Road home and went back to bed. I road with the bike shop ride Thursday. Then last nigh, looking at the radar, I figured Friday would be a rain day. I started raining at 10pm? It was certainly on and off but the radar said lots was coming. It would all be well over by 5am I could see on the radar. But, the puddles remain I think until the sun comes out and the itcy bitties biker can safely climb back on, you remember the story.
I did walk out to the end of the street at 8am just to see the puddle condition. It is my rain gage. It was not as full as Wednesday but sizeable. I am going to post this quickly as my goal is to get up at least one picture before I leave for my 11:30 lunch appointment.
Let me introduce you to Daniel.
She is Columbian. Works at my 100% attendance lunch location, Surfin Burrito. Her attendance is much worse than mine. I don’t think she has been in for 3 days. Besides the smiling face, a welcome and the correct details on the drink, the place is a little chaotic and my having a connection helps me aid other diners in negotiating the hick-ups. Any additional reasons one can create to lurer unsuspecting customers to talk to a 75 year old smelly man is all to the good. Yesterday I was there at 11:30 and did not get home until like 3:30. Only 2 drinks and hopefully lots of good stories for these pages.
I have the laundry out this AM and the radar says another band of showers about 2:30pm. We will see how that plays out. I still have lots of clean cloths “backup”, both for riding and non-riding. I of course want to be sure I keep ahead and always have the buffer.
It is 2:16. I am back from lunch with Gorham Maine couple and the radar still suggests things might rain. I have taken the cloths in. Things look good after 3pm. Cloths are still at least damp if not wet so we will see if I luck out or not? I think I am on track for dinner at one of my new regulars, La docia vite italian. If not maybe onto El Estrado, the best beer bar in town across from the local stadium.
