I will be under huge pressure to do Beijing, the burred army at Xian, etc. Hopefully I can resist it. I won’t go to the north, just too cold. No need to see Hong Kong. No need to see Tibet.
I do want to get out to the Muslum Uighers west. Josh Summers, an xpat who runs travelchinachearper.com operates out of there and was VERY helpful with published materials and answering individual questions. Getting there will be a challenge. Air travel is a little unreliable. Not unsafe, just subject to delays and cancellations. But the time and inconvenience of having to make the trip by train may not be practical.
I’ll certainly return to Skywells. Ed had a couple of other towns that he suggested that were just too far south. I’ll have to think about the time of year, don’t want to be dying in the heat. The bridges in the part of China I visited are mainly stone. There are some great examples of covered wooded bridges further south that might prove a focus.
I’m very proud of what I have done. I can lead others to the towns I have visited and even to new ones. I have the confidence, or maybe one would say the stupidity to think that I can pull off China travel.
