I did a little cycling in Scotland between August 27 and Sept 2. This was the great proof of concept or rather test of concept: can I take a bike on a wife Kim’s trip and make it work? My elevator description was: “After wife and daughter visit their 3d museum, church, castle, I’ll take the bike off the rack and meet them at the next pub.” As you can read from the other postings on the previous page, I normally stay in one place, rent a bike and go out in different directions each day for a couple weeks. I usually travel alone and establish a base at one or more bars in town where I do my off the bike socializing. Scotland is a Kim vacation, I am just trying to graft the biking on.
The origin of the trip is slightly interesting. Our family of two daughters traveled quite extensively as the children were growing up. Our last 3 trips were Equator, bare boating in the Virgins and Morocco. Our older daughter is just married and tied to an academmic schedule. I’m sure that we will soon try a trip including the son-in-law, he is already on many of the family email chaines, but this trip was not it.
