The adventure has begun!! As usual I am way behind in sharing the story. I’m too busy living it! This is good. Imagine if it was the other way and I was too busy sharing to live it.
It is 4pm Saturday April 5. I flew from Boston at 11pm saturday and got to Lisboa sunday at 11am. Got into the airbnb by 2pm. Had a good night in Lisboa, took the train at 10 am to Lagos. Met a US couple on the last Lagos leg from Tunes who are my age and have been RVing around the US. They have a house airbnb outside Lagos. Hopefully in the next week they will come into Lagos for dinner.
The story of the trip so far is the young ladies at the hostel AND the rain. Last year I was sick for 3? days but I never remember rain like this. I have had to change my whole mental outlook. Instead of planning a day around “I will leave at 10am and have lunch at this place”, I have to leave when the rain stops and go into a cafe to wait it out when it starts again. Luckily, it usually comes in short stages but last night was really longer!!
So far, nothing to do with the rain, it has been a great year for people. I have mentioned the couple my age on the train. Then Eva from Finland at the hostel. We did some walking around Lagos and had dinner Wednesday. 3 other young people, Julia, Alicia, Marco? from Italy were at the hostel and have shown up at Shaker each 5pm!! Met Battina and Becky in Borgue Thursday. They are Austrian, Vienna!, just finishing their walk along the coast from Porto to Lagos and had dinner with me last night in Lagos. Friday I did my third ride to Restaurant Solar do Farelo for lunch. No guests friday night! Saturday I rode to Borgue again. Same very good restaurant. Talked to a lot of people but I assume I will again have dinner alone and enjoy the evening talking to Kim on the phone and cycle racing on Youtube.
As is normal, this front page for Lagos 2025 will become more general introduction, with pictures! The story details like above will be on the inside pages. But I have to start somewhere and the above is the content that I have.
I spent the first hour Friday, getting the computer storage sorted out. I have a second portable with SSD instead of a hard drive and it is really fast. I put Tuesday and Thursday rides on it. Copied the gopro footage from SD cards to the hard drive and cleared the SD card for new day ride material. I also had to move some photos from google to make room for the new. Instead of buying more and more google photo space, I just move the older stuff onto the PCs and externals and delete it. Then the phone is happy to back up the dailies on to Google Photo. I then have to download that daily material in order to get wordpress to read it in and illustrate these pages!
