I’m Back!!!

Everyone should be interested in the Covid situation. There were no requirements for arrival in Mexico. As you may be able to see in lots of the pictures, many people who were not eating in a restaurants wore masks regularly, I was initially worried about using my normal form of transportation, public buses. I did take a taxi the first day. Then I developed a strategy of finding someone who was hailing a bus and stand behind them. As the bus stopped, I had the opportunity to judge how full the bus was. I don’t think I ever walked away. I did get stuck on at least one that was full and I had to stand. I did get stuck on one where the guitar player was singing with no mask. I always opened al;l the windows that I could reach. Bottom line, I did not get Covid but I am a bad “sample case” in that I have not just been vaccinated with two shots but also had a full strength booster and then a second reduced strength booster.
I agonized over how to travel to my normal “Outside Cancun” spots, Porta Moralas and Plays del Carma. I looked at rental cars. I thought about taxis. The rental car is fairly cheap if one skips the “cover all” insurance. In the end I passed on the rental in that it was hard to arrange and I had enough experience on the roads as a biker to know that driving in Mexico is no armature sport. I also passed on the taxi just due to the expense and trouble negotiating. I guess I also had ridden in so many public buses that I was wiling to risk the high end ADO bus to Porto Moralas. I did take the low end collectivo van back from Porto.
The hotel road had like 10 testing sights. Here is the one near Surfin that I used,
Canadadians had to fork out the 90$ to get back into Canada but Uncle Sam was satisfied with the 30$ 15 minute rapid test. Upon reentry, NO ONE asked to see my vaccination documentation.
